So, where do you start on your blog? That’s often the first question that most small businesses have. Well, let’s not make this more difficult than it needs to be. Frankly, your blog can be about anything. Now are you ready to start?
Let’s brainstorm. What’s your business? Who is your target market? What is your goal on your blog? What do you find interesting? What groups do you belong to? What’s your favorite comfort food? Think that last question doesn’t fit? Well, you’d be wrong.
People want to do business with people who they connect with, and if your favorite comfort food is mac and cheese, then I want to connect with YOU!
Now that you’ve got all of those answers, you’ve got a starting point. Pour yourself a glass of wine and start typing. Yeah, just start typing. Don’t edit yourself, don’t think too much about what other people will think, just start writing.
Once you’ve got a few blurbs ready to go, then step away from the computer and go play with your kids. Yes, really — your brain needs a quick break.
When you’re ready, re-read what you wrote, then you can start editing. Then you can start posting. Make a list, post #1—maybe this is a more personal post about you—who you are and where you’re going; then #2…. and so on and so forth.
The reality is, you can blog as much or as little as you want. Well, maybe not as little as you want—we recommend doing at least one post per week. That’s manageable, right?
There. That wasn’t so hard, was it? Pat yourself on the back, and let’s move forward.
